Level 5 Diploma in Business & Leadership

Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Previously known as the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training - DET)
This nationally recognised qualification is ideal for anyone looking to become a fully qualified teacher in the post-16 (Further Education and Skills) sector. The course is suitable for those already in a teaching or training role (paid or voluntary) and builds the skills needed to plan, deliver, assess, and evaluate inclusive learning experiences. Graduates of this course are eligible to apply for QTLS through the Society for Education and Training. This is a fully recognised teaching status, equivalent in law to QTS, and can be used to apply for roles in schools, sixth forms, and colleges.

Do I need to be working or teaching already to join a course?
For most Level 3 courses, you do not need to be working. However, for teaching-related qualifications (such as the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching), you’ll need access to a teaching placement so you can complete your required teaching hours. This can be a paid or voluntary role, and we can advise you on how to arrange one if needed.

Can I study from outside the UK?
Yes! All our courses are delivered online and open to international learners. As long as you meet the basic entry requirements and have internet access, you can study from anywhere in the world.

What are the entry requirements?
Each course has different entry requirements. For example:
- Level 3 courses generally require no formal qualifications, just a good level of English.
- Level 4 and 5 diplomas usually require a Level 3 qualification and functional skills (or equivalent), and sometimes a work/teaching placement.
If you’re unsure, our team will help assess your suitability and recommend the right level for you.

Are your qualifications officially recognised in the UK?
Yes. All our Level 3 to Level 5 qualifications are awarded by nationally recognised awarding bodies regulated by Ofqual (the UK’s Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation). They are accepted across the UK and internationally for work, progression, and university entry (where relevant).

Do your Level 4 and 5 courses lead to a full university degree?
Yes. Learners who complete a Level 4 and Level 5 diploma can apply to “Top-Up” to a full undergraduate degree (usually the final year only) at a recognised UK university. These Top-Up degrees are available both online and on campus. We guide our learners through this process and help with university applications.

What is QTLS and how do I get it?
QTLS stands for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills. It is a professional status equivalent to QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and is awarded by the Society for Education and Training (SET). If you complete the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (DET) and meet other eligibility requirements (including teaching practice and functional skills), you can apply for QTLS, which qualifies you to teach in schools and colleges across the UK.

How long do the courses take to complete?
It depends on the course and your pace. Most learners complete a Level 4 or 5 diploma in 6 to 12 months if studying part-time. You can study at your own pace with full access to tutor support throughout.

No traditional exams. Our qualifications are coursework-based, which means you’ll complete assignments, reflections, and evidence portfolios instead of sitting exams. Your tutor will support you through each stage of the assessment.
