Level 5 Diploma in Education Studies

A 120-credit Level 5 academic qualification deepening understanding of advanced educational theory, global policy and research. No teaching practice required. Combined with Level 4 gives direct entry to a BA (Hons) Education degree. Fully online, no exams.

Course Overview

The Level 5 Diploma in Education Studies is a 120-credit academic qualification that deepens understanding of advanced educational theory, global policy and research methodologies. It is the academic progression route for learners who have completed Level 4 and wish to reach degree entry without undertaking teaching practice.

This is the academic pathway — it focuses on critical analysis and intellectual development within education rather than practical classroom teaching. Learners who prefer the practical route with teaching practice and a route to QTLS should instead choose the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching.

Combined with the Level 4 Diploma in Education Studies, this qualification gives 240 credits and direct entry to the final year of a BA (Hons) in Childhood and Education Studies, Early Years, or Education at partner universities.

All units are assessed by written assignment with no exams. Awarded by TQUK, an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation. Delivered online by BLC (UKPRN: 10058020).
